This standard specifies conditional access in digital broadcasting and presents specifications for scrambling and scrambling-related information and for associated receivers.
The standard specifies a conditional access (CA) system in accordance with the "Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) Directive for Revising All of the Standard Transmission System for Digital Broadcasting within Standard Television Broadcasting, etc.,"(MPT Directive No. 102, 1999), and "MPT Directive for Revising Part of the Standard Transmission System for Digital Broadcasting within Standard Television Broadcasting, etc.,"(MPT Directive No. 46, 2000). This standard also provides, as reference material, an explanation of the system, an explanation of receiver functional specifications, operational information, and a supplementary description of CA interfacing.
1. Scope (Ver. 3.0)
This standard applies to receivers for four types of digital broadcasting. The first is 11.7-12.2 GHz digital satellite broadcasting, for standard television broadcasting, high-definition television broadcasting, VHF broadcasting, and data broadcasting. The second is 12.2-12.75 GHz digital communication satellite broadcasting, for 34.5-MHz-bandwidth standard television broadcasting, high-definition television broadcasting, VHF broadcasting, and data broadcasting. The third is digital broadcasting for standard television broadcasting and high-definition television broadcasting as performed by broadcast studios, or terrestrial television broadcasting. The fourth is digital broadcasting for audio broadcasting as performed by broadcast studios, or digital terrestrial sound broadcasting.
Note also that the CA interface in the receiver is assumed to be a low-speed CA interface.
