Transmission System for Digital Terrestrial Sound Broadcasting
Standard (ARIB STD-B29) Overview

This standard specifies the transmission system for digital terrestrial sound broadcasting using the UHF and VHF bands.

In addition, the transmission system specified in this standard has been established as a private-sector standard in accordance with the November 29, 1999 Report of the Telecommunications Technology Council of the former Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications*).

(1) Main Document: Transmission System for Digital Terrestrial Audio Broadcasting
The Main Document consists of the following five chapters.

Chapter 1 General
Chapter 2 System Overview
Chapter 3 Transmission Path Coding System
Chapter 4 Signal Format in Linked Transmissions
Chapter 5 Frequency Usage Conditions
Chapter 1 describes purpose, scope, references, and terminology.

Chapter 2 describes the features of ISDB-TSB, Japan's digital terrestrial sound broadcasting system.

Chapter 3 describes the technical specifications of the transmission path coding system for digital terrestrial sound broadcasting in parallel with transmission-signal flow.

Chapter 4 defines linked transmission, a feature of digital terrestrial broadcasting, and specifies signal configuration in this regard.

Chapter 5 specifies bandwidth, allowed frequency deviation, etc. in digital terrestrial broadcasting

(2) Appendix: Operational Guidelines for Digital Terrestrial Audio Broadcasting

Provides operational guidelines for hierarchical transmission, single frequency network (SFN) synchronization, and linked transmission.

(3) Reference Material

Presents results of a study on transmission parameters and the use of an auxiliary channel (AC).
