Overview of Standards and Technical Reports

Overview of ARIB Technical Report (BTA F-1002)

1. Overview

TR Number BTA F-1002
Technical Report Name (Formatting AES Audio and Auxiliary Data into Digital Video Ancillary Data Space in Bit-Serial Digital Interfaces for 525 line Television System)
Enactment Date 04.1995
General Description

In digital serial transmission of video signals, supplemental signals can be transmitted using blanking intervals. Audio signals are often used as supplemental signals. The interoperability is realized by unifying basic multiplexing conditions of digital supplemental signals and maintaining the compatibility between apparatuses.

This technical report specifies the guideline of data structure, packet structure, and multiplexing location with the transmission of digital audio signal in accordance with AEU/EBU standards in supplemental signal periods.

This technical report is applied to digital apparatuses, which are mainly used for the 525 television system in broadcasting stations and productions, for transmission of AES audio signals using supplemental signal periods in digital serial interfaces of component and composite signals.

 Keywords

Keyword Description
AES/EBU Abbreviation for Audio Engineering Society / European Broadcasting Union
AES audio Data of an AES digital stream which is comprised of audio data and additional data
audio data Data of 23 bits except for additional data of 4 bits in one AES audio sample.
additional data Data of 4 bits every AES audio sample to enhance quantization precision
audio control data Data specifying characteristics of audio data
audio data packet Supplemental packets to transmit the audio data of one or two channel pare (2 or 4 channels). The audio data of one or several samples every channel is included in one audio data packet.
additional data packet Supplemental signal packets for the transmission of additional data which are multiplexed immediately after the audio data related to these packets
audio control packet Supplemental signal packets for the transmission of audio control data which are multiplexed every field to transmit the characteristics of audio data to receivers.
