This standard specifies the television broadcast program digital radio transmission system for the material transmission using OFDM modulation in 800MHz band. The objective of this system is that the program material transmission is smoothly performed.

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex
OFDM is one method for transmitting digitized information. With respect to the conventional method of high-speed modulation of one carrier in all the information, In OFDM, it sends distributes the information to thousands of carriers. In terms of per carrier, since the time for transmitting the mass of 1 or 0 digital data is several thousand times, stronger transmission characteristics to multipath interference is obtained. The appellation is by the mechanism (Orthogonal Multiplexing) for a plurality of carriers no interference with each other.
Differential Quaternary Phase Shift Keying
By transmission by switching the sine waves with different phases, digital modulation scheme to transmit two bits of information. With respect to QPSK to define the criteria of phase by SP, the one before the symbol of each carrier is transmitted to define the phase state of the four types as the basis for the phase.
