1. Overview

STD Number ARIB STD-B21
Standard Name Receiver for Digital Broadcasting (Desirable Specifications)
General Description

This standard specifies a desirable specification such as basic function, rating, and performance of a digital broadcast receiver using the following transmission systems:

・BS digital broadcasting using the frequency band from 11.7 GHz to 12.2 GHz.

・broadband CS digital broadcasting using the frequency band from 12.2 GHz to

 12.75 GHz.

・Terrestrial digital broadcasting.

This standard defines a receiver for BS digital broadcasting, a receiver for common use of BS digital broadcasting and broadband CS digital broadcasting, and a receiver for terrestrial digital broadcasting using a fixed receiving antenna.

Small simple receivers, vehicle-mounted receivers, and portable receivers will either apply or reference this standard

2. Amendment History

Ver. Amendment or Enactment Date Amendment summary
5.11 12.05.2019 As a new high-speed digital interface which can be used for 4K8K broadcasting was added in ARIB STD-B63 “Receiver for advanced broadband satellite digital broadcasting”, the value of 0x4142 and 0x4143, which are defined as media_type values of network identification descriptors in ARIB STD-B63 are added.
5.10 04.12.2018

The following revisions are implemented:

・Revision of the number of scramble keys to be consistent with the revision of ARIB STD-B25 to change the number of scramble keys that can be processed simultaneously by the receiver in the conditional access system and the content protection system.

・Revision due to the change of the name about HDMI specification management organization which is referred to in this document.
