General Description

This standard specifies the radio section interface of the telecommunication system for digital cordless telephone and PHS regulated in the Article 49-8-2 and 49-8-3 of  Ordinance Regulating Radio Equipment.

Revise items, listed below, essential to implement TD-OFDMA digital cordless telecommunications, which is one of the new system of digital cordless telecommunications.

Main contents of revision are as follows:

(1) Addition of the newly introduced specification (Appendix AR)
(a) TD-OFDMA digital cordless telecommunications radio interface

(2) Revision of the existent specification
(a) Change the name of digital cordless telecommunications system
(b) Deletion of the technical requirements regarding the calling identification memory device and the calling identification discrimination device for base station of digital cordless telephones
(c) Deletion of the criterion for specifying call sign or call name of base station of digital cordless telephones
(d) Change of definition for identifier from call name to identification sign
(e) Change of requirements of interference avoidance function, which is mandatory on base station
(f) Deletion of requirements of telecommunications circuit equipment
(g) Addition of the operation guideline for digital cordless telecommunications (Appendix AS)

5.3 09.25.2008

Revise the following items in accordance with amendment of the Ordinace and Notification of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications , effective on December 27, 2007:

(1) Addition of definition for registered relay station

(2) Addition of technical requirements on antenna power, antenna gain, and tolerance limits of intensity of unwanted emission in spurious domain for registered relay station

5.2 05.29.2006 Revise items related to amendment of the Ordinace and Notification of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications regarding PHS enhancement, effective on December 1, 2005, and clarify requirements on transmission power.
5.1 11.30.2005

(1) Increase transmission power for traffic channels of base station (not applied for Japan).

(2) Revise definitions, tolerance limits, interim measure for the revision, and measurement method on spurious emission, etc. in accordance with amendment concerning technical criterion on Permissible Values for Spurious Emission, and so on.

5.0 09.29.2005 Revise modulation method, channel coding format and protocol specifications, etc. in order to increase the transmission speed.
4.1 05.25.2004 Introduce half rate coding scheme and transmission power control scheme in order to increase further efficiency of utilizing radio frequency and reduce the network cost of PHS, considering late circumstances of PHS utilization.
4.0 03.28.2002 Revision in accordance with amendment of Ordinance Regulating Radio Equipment. Addition of radio frequency band, radio frequencies for control channel. Addition of specification on modulation method, occupied frequency bandwidth and conditions of roll-off rate, etc. Introduce repeater for private use.
3.3 03.02.2000 Apply FWA system to domestic use and add standard for connecting ISDN, dedicated line, etc.
3.2 02.02.1999 Change in accordance with partial revision of the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Law concerning enhancement, etc.

1.1 - 2.2 03.03.1995 - 06.25.1996 Define specification for data communication: data communication specification (ISDN), specification of interconnection between private systems, specification for WLL system, items concerning authentication for private system and subscriber data writing.
