General Description

This standard specifies requirements for the data transmission radio equipment used for international logistics that employs radio waves of the frequency higher than 433.67MHz and 434.17 MHz or lower defined in the Paragraph 3 of Article 49-4 of the Ordinance Regulating Radio Equipment among radio equipment for specified low power radio stations defined in the Article 6 of the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Act (The related Notification No 42, 1989, Revision by Notification No. 655, 2006).

The subject system is a 433MHz active tag system mainly located in port, airport, factory or warehouse and consists of interrogator which transmits start/stop signal and data, and active tag equipped on international transportation cargo.

In particular regarding the provision in Japan “to attach a notice (at a visible place) that the radio equipment is allowed to radiate when the concerned equipment is only used for international logistics”, this standard describes specific examples of indication method, characters size, indicated contents, etc. as a voluntary standard. In addition this system assumes communications between data control equipment for international logistics and data transmission equipment for international logistics, and mutual communications of data transmission equipment for international logistics. While, communication protocol (provision for confirmation of interoperability) is not specified in this standard.
