Overview of ARIB Standards (STD-B45)
|STD Number||ARIB STD-B45|
|Standard Name||Content Download System for Digital Broadcasting|
This standard specifies about download type broadcasting service in digital broadcasting, and this standard comprises two Parts about advanced wide band digital satellite broadcasting and terrestrial multimedia broadcasting by connected segment transmission system (hereinafter, referred to as terrestrial multimedia broadcasting by ISDB-Tmm system).
Part 1 specifies download system for download type broadcasting service by TLV which is provided in STD-B44 “Transmission System for Advanced Wide Band Digital Satellite Broadcasting”.
The system provided in Part 1 is the system of hybrid type in which content with higher needs is distributed simultaneously by using broadcasting channel, and content requested separately and licenses are distributed separately by using communication channel, on condition that broadcasting and communication work in cooperation with each other.
Part 2 specifies download system for download type broadcasting service in terrestrial multimedia broadcasting by ISDB-Tmm system. On condition of mobile receiver, terrestrial multimedia broadcasting by ISDB-Tmm system realize access to content and service without restrictions on time to watch program or place to use, by extending combination of digital terrestrial television broadcasting and communications. In actual broadcasting, service is supposed by real time type broadcasting content, download type content and the combination of them.
Part 2 specifies the service by download type content among mentioned above.
|ISDB-Tmm system||ISDB for Terrestrial Multi-Media Broadcasting: Broadcasting system of digital terrestrial television broadcasting for mobile receiver and portable terminal in which transmission band is composed of 1 or 13 OFDM segments. Connected segment transmission system.|
|Multimedia broadcasting||Expressive media which is composed of plural mono-media such as video, audio, text, still picture, etc. Many of them accompany interaction between mono-media and accompany dialogue movement with user.|
|DRM||Abbreviation for Digital Rights Management|

|ECG||Abbreviation for Electronic Contents Guide: The generic term of application function by which digital content is retrieved and browsed.|
|ECG metadata||The generic term of data used by ECG in which the attribute of the content is described.|
|Regeneration control information||Control information which is used when regenerating content which was downloaded or copying it to removable recording media.|
|Download program||A set of file which is transmitted for a specific service and within a specific time, and is a unit of download.|
|Download type broadcast service||Storage type broadcasting service. Broadcasting carried by download system among terrestrial multimedia broadcasting by connected segment transmission system.|
|Real-time type broadcast||Conventional broadcasting which combines video, audio and data or those elements.|
|Transmission control metadata||Data of XML document type in which information needed for receiving download type contents and download are described.|
|FDT instance||Object for transmitting File Delivery Table (FDT) which describes various properties about file distributed by FLUTE provided in IETF RFC3926.|
|Manifesto file||One of structural file of download type contents, and data of XML document type in which structural file management and information about scenario management are described.|
|FLUTE||File distribution protocol for one way communication (RFC3926)|
|ULE||Function to capsulize IP packet (RFC4326) to realize IP transmission on MPEG-2 Systems|

2. Amendment History
|Ver.||Amendment or Enactment Date||Amendment summary|
|3.0||03.18.2014||According that Ordinance and Notification to carry out terrestrial multimedia broadcasting in VHF-Low band by connected segment transmission system is newly amended, the title of Part 2 is changed to “Download system of terrestrial multimedia broadcasting by connected segment transmission system applied to VHF-High band”, and Part 3 is added as “Download system of terrestrial multimedia broadcasting by connected segment transmission system applied to VHF-Low band”.|
|2.2||07.03.2012||According to the amendment of Ordinance and Notification involved by the amendment of Broadcasting Act, Ordinance and Notification which this standard refers to are so changed to correspond to new Ordinance and Notification, and to adapt to the term “basic broadcasting station” newly defined.|
Amendment of Part 2 ”Download system of terrestrial multimedia broadcasting by connected segment transmission system”
·In order to keep consistency with service requirement, transmission control metadata and XML schemer of manifesto file are modified, and information about reference defined by metadata, etc. are modified.
·In order to clarify the provision, the explanations of Session Description which is the composition of transmission control metadata, manifesto file, FDT instance and so on are complemented and modified.
·In order to keep consistency with upper rank standard for informative reference (RFC standard of IETF), this is modified.
Part 1 “Download system in advanced wide band satellite digital broadcasting” is not changed.
|2.0||03.28.2011||Amendment by addition of Part 2|
